So the story itself is really well structured. While we never get "answers" per say, you never feel like you're pining for them. It's actually quite refreshing to read a story that continuously and steadily builds the tension without ever attempting to push stretches of dialogue-heavy plot lines. The characters are always scrambling and the setting is always changing. You get a real sense of panic in this story and it makes the unlikely scenario of a plague-like apocalypse seem somewhat believable. At least in the sense that the characters actions and understandably justified throughout. My main complaint with this book is that the story does tend to drag on. There are multiple times in in both books where the author takes several pages to describe what would be a 30-second action in real life. It would be on par with reading a 3 page description of how someone contemplated and then avoided the decision to put toothpaste on a toothbrush. While understanding the characters thoughts and conflicts is important, it can feel boring and laborious.Product details

Just to many flashbacks to the time before the infection throughout the whole book.
The Infection series thrilled me, kept me page turning form book one The Infection to the second read The Killing Floor. I suggest buying the series, not the two books individually. Reason being is simple, Craig Dilouie, did not just write another simple "Zombie" book, after the first book you are left with a cliffhanger.
Can't wait for more! Truly a different type of zombie/apocalypse style books.
watch out flu..etc. you have major competition. If this was ever to happen ? I would want the major character to be my GOOD friend and close neighbor. He has insight, forethought and common sense. Not everyone would be so intelligent and caring toward their family.
Not bad in the genre.
The unique/weird third person style of story telling takes a bit to get used to and I find it less engaging than other books that did not use this style.
Excellently written, taut, dramatic, with great character development, great internal character revelations, and believable dialogue. The "zombie apocalypse" premise is one of the more creative in the genre, and unlike some, the zombie "catalyst" does not overtake the REAL story the impact on the human condition. Fairly dark, even for this genre, so readers be warned.

As a long time zombie fan I highly recommend this great double novel; An unusual take on the zombie genre. Full of action and very believable characters. Great reading at a great price.
